Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital camera

Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital camera overview
The cameras 20x zoom lens provides a focal length range of 28-560mm in 35mm terms, providing the user with the ability to capture a broad range of subjects from landscape and sunset images to birding photos, to action sports. Plus, the optical image stabilization system helps reduce camera shake, and High ISO Auto, which takes into account the subject's movement, further helps to provide crisp and clear images regardless of how far the zoom extends.
Surprisingly, such a capable camera is also easy to use. It features an Easy Mode, which limits camera functions to the basics for simplified operation, creating ease-of-use for even the most entry-level camera owner. Additionally, the camera is equipped with PictBridge and Canon Direct Print functions, enabling consumers to print photos anywhere. The cameras 2.5-inch vari-angle LCD screen and easy-to-use control dial make capturing and viewing images seamless, and all of this is powered by AA batteries, which are available anywhere so a shot is never missed due to a depleted battery
Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital camera features
• 10.0 Megapixel Resolution The PowerShot SX10 IS incorporates a 10.3 Megapixel CCD that produces an effective resolution of 10.0 megapixels for stunning picture clarity and detail - sufficient to produce oversized prints and also provides the freedom to enlarge any section of an image and crop to your exact needs.
• Incredible 20x Optical Zoom Lens The PowerShot SX10 IS has an incredible 20x wide-angle optical zoom lens provides a 35mm focal range equivalent of 28-560mm and helps to bring your subject closer with razor-sharp precision and stunning lifelike color. In addition, the camera is equipped with a 4x digital zoom, which combined with the optical zoom provides an incredible 80x total zoom range for capturing even the smallest details of your subject
. • Optical Image Stabilizer Canon's lens shift-type optical image stabilizer counteracts the camera shake caused by slight hand movements. Vibration sensors detect the angle and speed of movement and send this information to a processor, allowing the camera to compensate. This adds stability to hand-held, telephoto or moving shots and enables shooting at shutter speeds of up to three stops slower than typical with no noticeable increase in image blur.
• DIGIC 4 Processor Delivering fast, responsive camera performance and superb image rendering, the DIGIC 4 processor also drives Canon's landmark Face Detection technology while advanced image processing algorithms deliver superb image detail and color reproduction with accurate white balance. Furthermore, the processor incorporates iSAPS scene-recognition technology using an internal database of thousands of different photos to improve focus speed and accuracy, as well as exposure and white balance.
• Advanced Face Detection System Canon's Face Detection system automatically detects up to 35 faces within a frame before adjusting focus, exposure, flash and white balance to ensure optimal results, It is also able to determine which faces are intended to be the subject, instantly reverting to the 9-point AiAF system if no face is the primary subject. The Face Select & Track feature allows the user to select a particular face to be the main subject of a photograph and track it, while Face Self-Timer allows easy group shots by automatically triggering the shutter shortly after a new face has entered the frame
. • In-camera Red-eye Correction Red-eye Correction detects and automatically corrects red-eye during playback for both regular and flash photography. In unusual cases where red-eye is not automatically detected, it can easily be corrected manually during playback mode.
• High ISO Sensitivity The PowerShot SX10 IS features ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto settings (equivalent to ISO 3200) that reduce Image Blur effects caused by camera shake and sharpen subjects in low-light situations, giving you greater flexibility for shooting.
• Intelligent Contrast Correction The impressive DIGIC 4 processor makes the i-Contrast (Intelligent Contrast Correction) system possible. This feature controls exposure compensation levels to brighten dark areas while maintaining light areas of the image, for more natural looking images. The PowerShot SX10 IS can even apply i-Contrast in playback mode to adjust images that were shot without the setting activated.
• VGA Movie Recording with MovieSnap Feature The camera's movie functions include 30 fps VGA recording with sound, and can playback onto a PC or a TV via the integrated AV Out connection. You can also shoot full-motion movies at QVGA (320 x240) that are well suited to PC playback or for email. The MovieSnap feature allows you to capture still shots while in the middle of shooting a movie. Simply press the shutter to record a high-resolution still, without the slightest pause to your video
. • Wide Range of Shooting Modes A complement of eighteen shooting modes helps deliver excellent results in almost any situation, or if you want to flex your creative muscles, choose Manual Control and do it all yourself. Preset Special Scene modes assist with picture taking in tricky lighting conditions, including Indoor, Night Scene, Beach and Snow options. The camera also provides opportunity for creative experimentation with My Colors photo effects for additional in-camera color customization, along with Color Accent to retain a single color in your image while other colors are made monochrome, and Color Swap to replace a specific color in the captured image with a color you specify for special effects.
• 2.5-inch Vari-angle LCD Screen The 2.5 inch Vari-angle LCD screen of the PowerShot SX10 IS has 230,000 pixels of resolution, and features a wide viewing angle for easy viewing, whether you're shooting, reviewing or showing off your images. The Vari-angle capability of the display screen makes it easy to frame your shots, even when shooting at odd angles such as over your head, and is particularly useful when shooting macro photos. This high-resolution screen offers a crisp, clear picture so using the camera's menu functions especially convenient, and also features Night Display for easy viewing in low light.
• Convenient AA-size Batteries AA-size batteries can be purchased at any store so you don't need to worry about running out of batteries or recharging batteries - simply get new ones locally
. • Easy, Flexible Direct Printing Options The Print/Share button makes direct printing easier than ever. Simply connect the camera to a Canon Direct Photo Printer or PictBridge supported printer, press the Print/Share button and print. The Direct Print feature allows for image preview and editing (including cropping) on the camera when connected to a compatible printer. Also use the Print/Share button to transfer images directly to a computer (Windows).

Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital camera user reviews
As the chart illustrates, Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital camera is an improvement over its predecessor in almost every respect. It has way more zoom power, a better LCD and viewfinder, and dramatically improved battery life. The one real disappointment here is the lack of an HD movie mode. Outside of North America, Canon is selling a camera known as the PowerShot SX1 IS, which is quite similar to the SX10, with the main differences being a larger LCD, faster continuous shooting, a 1080p movie mode, and an HDMI port. Why this model wasn't brought over to the States is unclear.
