    "The Canon EOS 5D is ridiculously expensive when compared to the 200-plus digital cameras currently available. At $3,299 for the body only, this D-SLR is for Porsche drivers who don’t mind being weighed down by a 2-pound plus camera. We’re reviewing it for a couple of reasons: first the camera offers major breakthroughs that eventually will trickle down to more mainstream models (read that as more affordable). "

    "Canon EOS 5D Digital camera - SLR is a fantastic professional camera. It's reasonably priced compared to some of the other choices out there, and unlike Canon's 1Ds series full frame cameras, it's not going to eat up your hard drive with impossibly large picture files, even in RAW mode. It's flexible for all your needs-- I've shot weddings with it one day and horse racing the next.




For those of you who shoot indoors without flash, it practically shoots in the dark-- clean images with minimal noise at ISO 1600+. What noise you get looks like film grain.




A word of caution: This is not a consumer camera-- if you need the hand holding modes like portrait and sports, they're not there. Neither is that useless little pop-up flash-- the 5D is based on the EOS-3 film camera chassis.

Located somewhere between the EOS 20D and the EOS 1D, the 5D is likely to appeal to those looking for a step up from the 20D without the environmental sealing found in the professional models. One noteworthy feature of the 5D is spot metering, a helpful feature missing in the 20D. The EOS 5D body is approximate in dimensions and weight to the EOS 20D while having a larger 2.5" LCD view screen. If action photography speed isn't of the essence, you're likely to experience severe gadget lust. The price alone, currently at $3300 usd, will make this a must-buy or pass among all types of digital photographers. And primarily leave this camera to the semi-pro to pro buyers market. Canon's newest digital SLR camera again confirms Canon's commitment to improving its digital SLR line of cameras. "
